Mrs. Stephanie Scott

I am a Moore High School graduate and I received my Bachelor of Science degree in Business Education from the University of Central Oklahoma. I hold teaching

certificates in 13 business areas, 4 areas of science, and 6 areas of Social Studies. I began teaching in the Moore Public Schools in 2002. I previously taught in the Oklahoma City Public Schools and at a private Christian school. I am also the Southmoore High School Tennis coach.

In 2007 I had the extreme honor of being selected from 1600 applicants across the United States to participate in the Japan Fulbright Memorial Fund Teacher Program. I traveled with 200 teachers to Japan for three weeks in an effort to promote intercultural understanding between Japan and the United States.

I met with Japanese government officials and educators, learning about the life and culture of the Japanese people. Then, traveling in groups of 20 I visited a host city, mine was Ota-Ku, a suburb of Tokyo, where we came in direct contact with primary and secondary schools as well as a teachers college. I also visited cultural sites and local industries as well as a brief homestay with a Japanese family, the Hondas. Mr. Honda is an English teacher at a high school in Ota-Ku.

It was a trip of a life time with many new friends made and so much information learned about the Japanese way of life. I hope to use the information I obtained to enrich the lives of my students.
