East Ink Expectations

 

These are the expectations created by and voted on by members 

  •    Annual writing competition: involves the entire school, winner will receive gift certificate to someplace teenagers would actually be willing to compete for, provide plenty of advertising for the competition
  •     Participate in some type of volunteer services for the community
  •     Participate in academic field trip that enhances goals of East Ink
  •     Sponsor school wide Week of Tolerance
  •     Publish annual magazine or book, instead of rushed monthly magazine, try to have color copies with cover, encourage writings and art from all Highland East students
  •     Hold two open mic nights at Rio Java coffee shop, invite other junior high writing clubs
  •     Visit local poetry slams and art galleries
  •     Create school wide newsletter that includes poetry, art, recipes, interesting facts, brain teasers, etc…
  •            Persuade library to get yearly copy of "Writer's Market"
  •     Members must attempt to publish writing once a semester, this is a requirement
  •     Develop and organize writing workshops that would be open to all students
  •             Set up and maintain website
  •            Develop fundraisers
  •            Fully participate in state competition
  •     Members holding office must make a commitment to be present for 75% of meetings
