AP Language & Composition Summer Reading for Incoming English III Juniors

Each summer, Advanced Placement courses require summer reading in order to help students maintain an attitude of learning, direction, and preparation for the upcoming academic year.  This year, incoming junior AP Lang students will have the opportunity to read a wonderful non-fiction biography of a young man fascinated with nature - a perfect summer read.  Into the Wild by Jon Krakauer is a best seller and a perfect example of research and solid writing.

I'll let the book speak for itself, and I hope everyone finds something he/she likes about it.  Regardless, there will be a few things beyond just reading, so please download the files below and email me at brandonwilmarth@mooreschools.com if you have any questions.

Into the Wild DVD Cover**A word of warning - YES, there is a movie (and it's a great movie); however, the movie will not help you in the activities required for the Summer Reading.  The book is relatively short, so put aside 6-8 hours throughout the summer and read, read, read.  Participate in the online conversations while you read. Then complete the storyboard project.  Then, if you wish, watch the movie.  We may watch clips of the movie for activities; however, we will not watch from beginning to end during class.
