- Read aloud to your child daily and allow time for your child to read independently.
- Let your child use invented spelling (see videos below)
- Turn on the closed captioning on your T.V. and DVDs' to help your 1st grader develop a sense of flow of written and spoken language and increase their sight word vocabulary.
