Hello! I am Mrs. Gilbert, and I am so excited to have the opportunity to work at Earlywine, where I have taught since 2008, with such an amazing faculty. The students here are also very special!
I teach 5th grade Science and Social Studies. I love the way these subjects allow us to be "hands on" in many ways. I enjoy getting to work with children and see their enthusiasm when they discover and learn something new! I like to read. Historical fiction stories and mysteries are favorites of mine. I also like anything that makes me laugh!
I graduated from the University of Oklahoma, with a bachelors in Elementary Education. BOOMER SOONER! (My parents and my siblings all graduated from OU, too!) I have a specialization in Math and Science.
I am married and have four children, plus a miniature pinscher and a boxer. My husband, Bryan, who graduated from OBU and Southwestern Seminary, is a pastor at Brookwood Baptist Church. My son, Kimes, who won state is power lifting as a senior in high school, played college football and is now a coach and math teacher at Choctaw High School. He is married to our fabulous Maggi, who has a masters degree as a registered dietitian. My daughter, Kyra, is a nurse at St. John's hospital in Tulsa, OK. She is married to our fantastic Nate, who is a student minister in Bristow, OK. Kyra played basketball and lacrosse her first two years at OBU and is an amazing athlete and a wonderful photographer. My son, Reece, is a junior at OBU, where he plays football and is majoring in interdisciplinary studies. His ultimate goal is to become a firefighter. He also won state in power lifting his senior year at Southmoore! My daughter, Raelie, a sophomore at OBU, is working on a double major in early childhood and elementary education. She is very talented artistically and musically, and participated in drama and choir at Southmoore. It was a blast to watch her sing and perform in high school musicals! We all enjoy old movies and musicals. I previously taught in Putnam City Schools, Hennessey schools, and Yukon schools. I also stayed home for 15 years while raising my children. I loved every minute!
