    Language Arts - 8th Grade - Mr. Manning

    Classroom Procedures and Expectations: Our classroom will be an environment that is conducive for learning, creating a calming sense of community and promoting enthusiasm for intellectual growth and achievement.  Students will be expected to be on time to class, to be prepared with all needed supplies and completed work.  Students should be in their seats and have already begun the bell work activity when the tardy bell rings. 

    Grading Policy: Daily Practice 50%, Assessments and Projects 40%, Semester Assessment 10%

    Late Work Policy: Work that is one day late will receive an automatic 10% drop in grade. After the first late day, students will receive 70% of the earned grade. Students will have two days to submit the late assignment.   
     

    Tardy Policy:  Two tardies equals an absence. 5 tardies equals ISD. You are allowed 10 absences a semester.

    Tardies add up fast. Be on time.

                          3rd tardy................................................... 1 lunch detention w/ parent contact

                          5th Tardy....................................................office referral   

     

    Behavior Expectations: *Be Polite   *Be Prepared   *Be Prompt   *Be Positive

    *Be polite. Be respectful: you get respect when you give respect. Listen and be attentive. Don’t call out; raise your hand. 
    Don’t talk while teacher is speaking.

    *No disruptive behavior. No roughhousing. Keep hands, feet and objects to yourself: what’s yours is yours and what belongs to your classmate belongs to your classmate. No name calling or derogatory remarks.

    *Be in your assigned seat and prepared for class when the bell rings.

    *Follow directions the first time given.

    *Students are to follow all school rules, including: no gum, food, or drinks in classroom. No cell phones or other electronic devices. Be aware of proper dress code.
