• Alternative or Flex Seating

It is my goal to create an atmosphere that encourages hands on creative learning, collaboration, and personal growth.

Students have assigned seats, however they have the option of working around the room. Seating options consist of yoga balls, traditional chairs & tables, pillows, camp chairs, and the option to lay or sit on the carpet. Research has shown that alternative/ flex seating has a positive impact on how children learn and interact in the classroom.

Students who need additional guidance and boundaries may be assigned to stay in their seat.  This should not be viewed as punishment, but individualized guidance that is most appropriate for the child.

This classroom arrangement will require that students follow set procedures and guidelines each day.  These procedures will be practiced from day one, with the understanding that following procedures is an important part of maintaining a positive class culture and showing respect for others.
