    Welcome to Sally Lawrence's Website

Welcome to 9th grade and to Moore High School!  If you are feeling stressed about being new at Moore High School, then I’ll let you in on a little secret -- I too was new to MHS a few years ago so I can remember the feeling.  If you attended Freshman Orientation I may look familiar to you.  I was the crazy woman that led your freshman orientation big groups.I have three grown children who are each amazing and make their mama proud!

I'm a little unusual....as you will soon find out.  First, I don't go by my legal name "SARAH."  I go by the name "Sally."  For that reason I can sympathize with any of my students that go by a different name than is on their transcript.  So,..... let me know right off the bat what name  YOU want to be called and I will make sure you feel comfortable with that.

Second, I grew up in Rio de Janeiro, Brasil. My parents were missionaries and I was so blessed to grow up in such an amazing place.  YES....I do speak Portuguese.  At times I wonder why I am teaching English!    English is an exciting language that always keeps us on our toes.  If there is a rule in the English language it will be broken at sometime and be replaced with another rule....what a mess....that's why it is sometimes challenging and yes...fun!  My personal life includes three grown children that I am incredibly proud of that all live VERY FAR AWAY from Oklahoma, and three amazing little puppies that keep me sane and happy.

I am a very honored to be a National Board Certified Teacher.  I worked very hard for this distinction and am very proud.  This is an incredible honor, but it took a lot of hard work. I not only teach English, but I am the FUSE coordinator and Shakespeare teacher.  I am a very spirited teacher who loves MHS and wants each of my freshmen to be as excited about MHS as I am.  I am sure that we will be the best freshman class  MHS has ever seen!!!!

Students, I look forward to a wonderful year of hard work, learning, surprises and fun!

Parents, thank you for entrusting your child to my classroom.  If at anytime you would like to meet with me or let me know of anything about your child, please do not hesitate to write me a note, e-mail or call me at the school.  I will respond as soon as I can.

    Let's get started!  GO LIONS!!!!!
