    English III:  American Literature

    English III is for Juniors and is the study of American Literature from early beginning historical documentation to current fiction and non-fiction pieces by American authors.  The basic units we will study throughout the year are as follows:  Early America, American Romanticism, The Civil War Era, Regionalism and Realism, Beginnings of the Modern Age, From Depression to Cold War, and Into the Twenty-First Century.
    Tuesday, February 19 to Thursday, February 28, 2019 - We are in Unit 3 of our textbook which is on the literature of the Civil War.  We are studying Black Spirituals, persuasive speeches of Sorjourner Truth and Abraham Lincoln, and the poetry of Walt Whitman and Emily Dickinson.
    NO SCHOOL - Teacher In-Service - Monday, February 18, 2019
    March 1, 2019 will be our next VISTA Community Service Day at Hillcrest Family Worship Center.  Students will need to bring $10 to eat lunch off-campus that day.
