Honors English I
The Moore Public School District defines English I as "a year-long course in which students will evaluate, interpret, and respond to a variety of texts, including fiction, non-fiction, poetry, drama, and film. Students will write for a variety of purposes and audiences, using the writing process to develop effective, coherent work wherein the student demonstrates command of the conventions of Standard English."
How that translates in your student's classroom: The English I curriculum is structured as a study of genre, with an emphasis on nonfiction and an introduction of the art of persuasion. In addition to improving students’ critical thinking, reading and writing, the curriculum seeks to expand students’ skills in speaking, listening, and visual literacy.
Students in the Pre-AP course will read and write more intensely in order to prepare them for success in the English AP courses to come.
Please note that with the new district website updates, teacher homepages can be difficult to navigate on mobile devices. For that reason, I have updated my homepage with "shortcut" buttons, shown below. These buttons will take you to the assignments page, class calendar, vocabulary list, and teacher blog.
