Welcome to Moore High School. I've been teaching in Moore since January 2010, making this my eleventh year at MHS, and I am very excited to be back! I am looking forward to this school year and to the learning we will do together throughout the year.
I graduated with distinction from the University of Oklahoma, completing a Bachelor of Science in Education and since earning my degree, I have taught eighth, ninth, eleventh, and twelfth grade here in Moore and I love coming to work every day!
It wasn't until my high school years that I realized that I love to read and I discovered, much later, that I love to write as well. So, when it was time to commit to a career and to return to school, it was just natural to choose teaching English. I am very enthusiastic in the classroom because I am interested in the content, in the process and in the collaboration that we will do. Education is such a meaningful part of my household that my daughter has just graduated, "with great distinction," from the same college and university as her mother...GO OU...and is now starting her own career in education. #ProudMom
We will work very hard this year, doing a lot of reading and writing, as well as focusing on how the sneaky business of language can work both for us and against us. However, we will always struggle together and it will be worth it when we all end the year with a better understanding and appreciation of the rhetoric that has shaped, and continues to shape, this country.
