• My name is Bart Richardson (Most of the students call me Mr. R) and I am entering my 24th Year in Education. Both of my parents were educators so I have been around schools all of my life. I was born with a hand-eye coordination disability. Because of my parents and the great teachers that I had I was able to overcome this disability and I was able to find success academically.  I went to Midwest City High School and I graduated College from the University of Central Oklahoma with a Bachelors of Arts in Social Studies Education. I was hired in December of 1996 to teach Social Studies here at Highland East. In May of 1999 I was asked to serve as Athletic Facilitator and I served as both a Social Studies Teacher and Athletic Facilitator from that point until October of 2003. During the 2000-2001 School Year I was fortunate enough to be selected as Highland East Junior High Teacher of the Year. In October of 2003 I was assigned as the Athletic Facilitator for Moore High School and I served in that position until May of 2012. In the 2006-2007 School Year I was selected as Oklahoma Athletic Director of the Year by the Oklahoma Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association as well as The National Association for Sport and Physical Education. In August of 2011 I received my National Certification for Athletic Administration. In 2017-2018 I was selected as Highland East Teacher of the Year and named as one of the five finalist for District Teacher of the Year. This Year I will be teaching Computer Education as well as serving as Athletic Facilitator at Highland East Junior High. Make no mistake, we will have a successful year!!! I have experience working with students who have different backgrounds and different abilities. It is my goal that the students who have me for their teacher find the maximum level of success possible. I am here to serve all of my students. I am very excited to be at Highland East and I look forward to a great school year.
