• Science Department Late Work Policy

The science department has a department wide late work policy. The policy states that if a student does not have their work on the day it is due they must fill out an excuse sheet.  If the student fails to turn in an excuse sheet he/she will be given an zero on that assignment without the chance to make it up. *EXCUSE SHEETS ARE NOT A PASS OUT OF AN ASSIGNMENT!* When the student turns in an excuse sheet on the day the assignment is due, the student is allowed the appropriate late work deadlines as follows:

7th grade: 1st day late, student receives no more than 80%. 2nd day late until the deadline, which is always the day of the unit test, the student will receive no more than 50% credit. Please understand, 50% is always better than 0.

8th grade:  1st day late, student receives no more than 70%. 2nd day late until the late work deadline, which is always the day of the unit test/project, the student will receive no more than 50% credit.  Please understand, 50% is always better than 0.

Long term projects (more than 2 days to complete) will not be accepted late. This is out of fairness to those students that have put in the effort to complete the project on time. You will always know when a project is coming up and what the due date is.
