    Dear South Lake Family,

It is with much excitement that I take a moment to announce that I was named Principal for South Lake Elementary for the 2022-2023 school year. This coming fall, I begin my fifth year in administration and my 17th year back in education after taking time away to stay home with my boys. The twelve years prior to coming to Moore Public Schools, I taught in Norman. Over the last four years I have had the chance to work and learn under great leaders while serving as the Assistant Principal at Broadmoore, South Lake, and Houchin.

Throughout my experiences, I continue to believe that building a strong community both in the classroom as well as in the overall school environment is key to helping students succeed academically, emotionally, and socially. School needs to be a place where students want to come to build connections with peers, staff, and teachers. By improving school engagement, the relationships built can also improve academic achievement. Each moment, what’s best for kids drives my decision making and actions. South Lake has strong tradition in parent involvement, a strong PTA, and various accomplishments in extra -curricular activities and academics. My hope is to build on those strengths moving forward. It will be a pleasure to get started and reacquainted with the Wolf Pack soon.

Outside of school, I am a wife to Darin of 24+ years and a mom to two boys, Kalen (21) a college student, and Kam (17) a high-school student. We also have an eleven-year-old Labradoodle named Owen. Our boys’ activities have always kept us busy, but with senior year ahead for our youngest, we know a change of routine is in our near future.

Have a wonderful summer and I will see you in August!

    Sincerely,

    Amy B. Sixkiller
