The Moore Public Schools Tutorial Program is a free tutorial program provided by the district to qualifying students in 4th through 8th grade. It will begin this year on October 4, 2021, and run through April 7, 2022. Tutoring sites are: Highland East, Highland West, Brink, Central JH, and Moore West. Southridge is not a tutoring site this year.
High School and college students, under the direction of a certified teacher, will tutor students Monday through Thursday in 50 minute sessions. Sessions will be 4:30 p.m-5:20 p.m., 5:30 p.m.-6:20 p.m., and 6:30 p.m.-7:20 p.m.
The program is designed to be an extension of the classroom and to build study skills. It is the student's responsibility to bring assignments, devices, books and materials to each session. Tutors will monitor completion of homework assignments. Any student suspended from school is not allowed to attend during the suspension period.
To qualify for this service, a student must be earning a “D” or “F”. Any student with one "D" will qualify for one night of tutoring. Any student with more than one “F” or an “F” and a "D", qualifies for two nights of tutoring. Any student with three unexcused absences from tutoring will be dismissed.
The tutorial application can be accessed by parents and faculty on the MPS website. This is a paperless and faster option for enrolling students (the link is given below and in the Parent Center on the left side of the home page of the More Schools website). The application will automatically be emailed to the supervisor of the program when you selct the "done" button at the end of the online form.
A tutorial application can be obtained through your school counselor (Meri Taylor or Jennifer Cox), completed and returned to the counselor.
Parents are usually contacted by the site supervisor within a couple of days after receipt of the tutoring request to schedule a time for tutoring. Every effort is made to provide tutoring at the site and time requested. If this time or location is full, another site will be offered.
Transportation is the responsibility of the parent. Students may not be left unattended.Click Here to complete the Parent Request for Tutoring Service. If you have any questions please contact the School Counselor.
