All MPS junior high and high school students will participate in, "School Violence Prevention Training." The training will be presented by teachers, with assistance from administrators and counselors, in their classrooms and will include a video, discussion, and resources for students.
The purpose of the training is to help students identify warning signs of violent/unsafe behavior, to understand the importance of reporting threats, how and who to contact for additional help, and more. It is an extensive collaboration we have worked with police and mental health professionals to develop.
We appreciate Sandy Hook Promise for allowing us to include one of their videos, "Evan," in our training video. The health and safety of our students and staff is of utmost importance. This training is a proactive effort to prepare and safeguard them wherever they may be.
