    Ms. Raney Hello!  My name is Amy Raney and I will be your child’s school counselor this year.  This year will begin my 22nd  year in education.  I recieved my Bachelors in Early Childhood Education from Southern Nazarene University and have taught pre-k, kindergarten and first grade from Oklahoma down to Texas and back again.   I graduated with a Masters in Educational Guidance and Counseling in 2010 as well as becoming certified in Choice Theory and Reality Therapy from the William Glasser Institute in 2011.  In 2019, I recieved a Masters in Science degree in Applied Behavioral Health, from Mid-America Christian University and and currently working towards becoming a licensed professional counselor.
     
     August is an exciting time-as your student embarks upon new adventures in the world of learning.   It is extremely important to keep in mind that we all build on small successes.  Each child will progress at his or her own individual rate, acquiring skills as he/she is developmentally ready. 
        
    Maintaining each child’s sense of self-esteem and building a secure foundation for future growth will always remain a priority when I am in the classroom with your child or when they come to visit me in my office.  In this I ask your help and cooperation-applaud every new accomplishment, no matter how small it may seem.  This will keep the enthusiasm for learning alive and growing.  
     
        
    On a personal note, I have 3 WONDERUFUL children.  My oldest is a Junior at Tulsa University, my middle son is a junior at Westmoore, and my youngest is a current Briarwood Bear.    In my spare time, I like to play tennis, read,  geocache and spend time at Big Cedar lodge.                                       All my little bears
