Central Elementary PTA Earns National PTA Grant Through ATT

Central Elementary PTA was recently selected by the National PTA from among PTAs nationwide to receive a $1,500 grant, supported by AT&T, to host a Ready, Tech, Go! session for families and Moore Public Schools Employees. The Central Elementary PTA is one of only 230 local elementary school PTAs selected to receive a grant for the 2025-2026 school year.

This week, the Central Elementary PTA hosted their Ready, Tech, Go! session with dinner, led by 5th Grade Math Teacher Emily Couch. The short course is a digital literacy program for families to explore questions about when their student might be ready for mobile technology.

During the event, parents, caregivers and staff engaged in peer-to-peer conversations about the various aspects of screen readiness. They also became familiar with tools and resources that help determine screen readiness for younger children and teens and they heard new ideas to promote a healthy digital home.

According to ATT, the The Ready, Tech, Go! program helps families build knowledge and skills to use technology safely and responsibly right from the start.

ATT suggests that families:

  • Create digital expectations together as a family.
  • Have ongoing conversations about digital life.
  • Treat missteps wth care and as learning opportunities.
  • Introduce children to high-quality content.
  • Parents/guardians continue in their own digital education.

The program and grant are part of a collaboration between National PTA and AT&T. The collaboration is part of AT&T’s initiative to help address the digital divide through internet accessibility, affordability and safe adoption and National PTA’s PTA Connected initiative, which seeks to improve digital access and equity, digital safety and well-being, cybersecurity and digital literacy for all children through tailored programs, dissemination of resources and tools and community conversations. Since 2021, AT&T has committed $5 billion to help 25 million people get and stay connected to high-speed internet by 2030.
