OERB Names Cline as Top 20 Teacher

Red Oak 6th Grade Teacher Dr. Stephanie Cline was named a Top 20 Teacher for 2023-24 by Oklahoma Oil and Natural Gas this week and was surprised during class to the delight of her students and colleagues.

She was one of more than 1,000 teachers nominated for the award. She received a $5,000 personal award and Red Oak was also awarded $5,000 to be used for math and science programs. She was nominated because of her "positive attitude, enthusiasm, and her dedication to teaching."

In a letter to Cline, the OERB team noted that they are dedicated to supporting teachers and investing in our future leaders. As part of that mission, we created an initiative to recognize some of our state’s great educators. One part of her nomination read, "Dr. Cline is kind, positive, engaging, and builds beautiful relationships with her students. She utilizes hands-on equations and makes basic algebra a game for her students. She takes kids who don’t feel comfortable in their math skills and by the end of the year, they can take advanced math in junior high."

Cline will also be recognized during a University of Oklahoma softball game on Sat., May 4.
