Moore War Run 2026
The 18th annual Moore War 5K Run/Walk was held Aug. 29 with the starting line at the front of Moore High School, in the heart of the City of Moore. MHS junior Dominic Matthias won the race for a third time in a row, with a time of 14:44. Over the last three years, Matthias has won this 5K, improving his times with 15:45 in 2024 and 15:12 in 2025. 
 
The Westmoore Cross Country teams were named event champions by combining the scores of the boys’ and girls’ teams to claim the overall team title. WHS junior Jaxon Overton led the boys with a time of 16:17, while junior Camryn Newton led the girls with 17:38, breaking the girls' course record. 
We are incredibly proud of all of our athletes. This accomplishment is a true reflection of the hard work, dedication, and teamwork of our entire program.

Each year, the Moore High and Westmoore High School Alumni Associations work together to organize the event for students and community members to participate while giving to a good cause. Proceeds from participant entry fees go to senior scholarships for MHS and WHS students in May. As in years past, families, community members, volunteers, local churches and vendors came out to support the cause, often by handing out water along the path and snacks at the finish line.
 
This event started with about 50 runners during its first year and has grown to approximately 1,000 registered participants for 2026. 
 
"It's just so much fun to sit there and watch all the people, kids in strollers and the elderly. We've got a group of retirees this year. They said the oldest was 89, who is joining us for the wak," said Moore War Run Race Director Kelli Kinnamon, who is also a WHS graduate.
