Moore Public Schools held its annual MPS District Track Meet on May 8, with hundreds of 5th and 6th-grade students from 25 sites dressed out, with their laces tied, ready to go. They participated in track races, the softball throw and the long jump with medals for placers.
Moore, Westmoore and Southmoore High School students in the Superintendent Leadership Academy provided contest support for the athletes throughout the day and helped run some of the challenges. The Westmoore Cross Country and Track & Field teams ran concessions for the event. WHS senior Dakota Davis took incredible photos that are in the gallery below.
Also, this event would not be possible without the MHS Athletics team for the use of their facilities and the Track and Field coaches who run events.
Elementary Instructional Resource Team Specialist Kelley Gappa coordinates the event, students and PE teachers to make the meet run smoothly. School principals also attend to cheer on their students and offer help and encouragement to their teams.
