Dr. Robert Romines with wife Traci Romines

The Moore Chamber of Commerce held its annual Salute to Excellence at the First United Bank in Moore on Feb. 29. Moore Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Robert Romines was honored as the 2024 Citizen of the Year before an audience of MPS, business and community friends and his wife, Traci.

"I stand on the shoulders of giants every single day. Starting with the Moore Chamber and my strong leadership team. I have a fantastic Board of Education who are very involved in our community and they allow me and my team to do what we need to.

"I also have to say that I stand on the shoulders of my wife and my two girls. Traci is an employee in the district and my two girls are products of this district. I'm just so grateful," said Romines.

Romines also recognized and thanked event attendee Sen. Darrell Weaver for his support and partnership with MPS over the years.

The Trailblazer of the Year Award went to Reagan Novak. She is the owner of Raeluxe Aesthetics and is also a Moore High School graduate. Also earning recognition was the marketing group HITE Digital, named Small Business of the Year. Owner Amy Singleton is a Westmoore High School graduate and told the audience that she started her academic journey at Houchin Elementary when Dr. Romines was the principal.

The Team of the Year Award was presented to Norman Regional Health System for its outstanding community programs of which many support MPS students and their families, along with countless community members in Moore. NRHS Pres. and CEO Richie Splitt shared that he was honored to accept an award that honors the work of the many teams of healers of NRHS.
