Sponsor: Ms. Stafford and Mrs. Echard We are so proud of our delegates! Several of them received outstanding delegate certficates at our first MUN conference in Weatherford! Congratulations students!Student delegates participated in the OU Middle School/Junior High MUN conference on Friday, November 30th. Although no awards were given out at this conference, we are proud of the hard work and dedication that our students committed to this conference!We will practice 3 Friday's in December. Please see the calendar for dates and times.About Model United NationsModel United Nations gives students the opportunity to experience the workings of the United Nations and to actively gain first-hand knowledge of international politics by acting as delegates from other countries. Through this simulation students learn how the United Nations works collaboratively with other nations of the world to solve the crisis and issues in the world.Responsibilities of the Student Delegate:Attend 50% of all meetings to attend conferencesResearch and come to meetings preparedHave a passing grade in all classesEach meeting has a specific topic in mind and is geared towards preparing students for conferences, so attendance is encouraged. If a student cannot make a practice it is imperative that they contact a sponsor. Nothing can be more frustrating for a group than to wait on a delegate who is not coming.All practices are on Friday afternoons from 2:40 to 4:00 in the media center.Conference Attendance Responsibilties:Have all permission slips signed and returned to a sponsorMust wear business casual clothing. No jeans, t-shirts, tennis shoes or flip flopsFollow all rules of Brink Jr. High and Moore Public SchoolsOur OU High School conference will be February 20 - 23.Students are required to get all make-up work before missing school for a conference. It is the students' responsibility for getting the work, doing the work, and turning the work in on time.
