DECA
DECA (An Association of Marketing Students ~ formerly Distributive Education Clubs of America) is a youth organization, which is recognized by the United States Department of Education as an integral learning process within the Marketing Program. Through various leadership activities, the student learns the elements of management, technical knowledge, problem solving, decision making, human relations, etc. As a result, all students enrolled in the Marketing Program are encouraged to join DECA. DECA provides the opportunity for young people to learn leadership and professionalism, as well as compete scholastically within their industry.
v There is a $30.00 student fee, which must be paid by the fourth week of school. This covers national, state and local dues.
v Only paying members will be allowed to participate in field trips and competitions.
v All DECA members are obligated to check out and sell fund-raising items and turn in money by the designated due date set by the advisor.
v Every DECA member is required to attend DECA chapter meetings.
v Student officers and the chapter will plan activities that will take place during evenings and weekends in which students may be expected to participate when it does not conflict with their work schedule.
In order to wear the DECA cords at graduation, the DECA member/officer must perform 15 service points. Activities are subject to change.
