The program begins October 1, 2018 and ends April 4, 2019. It is free for all qualifying MPS students.
High school students under the direction of a supervising teacher will tutor students Grades 4th through 8th in 50 minute sessions.
Tutoring session times are (4:30-5:20) (5:30-6:20) (6:30-7:20)
Tutoring will take place at the following junior high locations on the days specified:
Brink-Monday/Wednesday, MW-Tuesday/Thursday , CJH-Monday/Wednesday, HW-Tuesday/Thursday,
HE-Tuesday/Thursday
Students that are referred early in the school year often have the most success in the program. The program is designed to be an extension of the classroom and to build study skills. Students will be responsible to bring books, assignments, and materials to each session. Any student that is suspended from school will not be allowed to attend tutoring during the suspension period.
To begin the referral process, a student must be currently making at least one D or F in any subject.
The tutorial application can be accessed by parents and faculty on the MPS website. This is a paperless and faster option for enrolling students (the link is above and also on the left side of the home page on the Moore Schools Website). The application will automatically be emailed to me when you select the “done” button at the end of the online form.
Or
A tutorial request form is to be completed at the site and sent inner school mail, or scanned and then emailed to me. Parents are contacted by the site supervisor within 2 days of receiving the tutoring request to schedule time of tutoring.
Any student with one or more “D’s” will qualify for one night of tutoring. Any student with two or more “F’s” (or one “F” and one “D”) will qualify for two nights.
Attached is a copy of the school calendar which has the tutorial program dates circled. I have also attached the parent request for tutoring.
Please email me if you need more forms at any time during the school year. If you have any questions, concerns, or suggestions, I am interested in hearing from you. Let me thank you in advance for your support and effort in making the tutorial program a success. Contact me by phone at 203-1614 or email shawnahughes@mooreschools.com
