• We are excited to share that Moore Public Schools and the MPS Foundation’s annual philanthropic initiative, “Moore Love,” will be throughout the entire year at the three high schools and highlighted during the month of February at ALL 35 schools – elementary, junior high, high schools and Vista.

The Moore Love committees at Moore, Westmoore and Southmoore high schools are leading the charge and will work with their respective feeder junior high and elementary schools to collaborate on events and fundraising.

This year, Moore Love recipients were selected through an application and interview process. Each of the high school committee members and advisors were asked to lead these efforts in selection. The recipients selected give selflessly to our community members every day. We are excited to share that MPS will raise funds for four important organizations.

    • Regional Food Bank: MPS works with the Oklahoma Regional Food Bank to provide food items in backpacks for approximately 650 of our students. These students do not have food to sustain them during the weekend and this program helps fulfill this need. No child should be without food or go hungry. Website: www.regionalfoodbank.org
    • Soonerthon: (Children’s Hospital), is a group of University of Oklahoma student-leaders who raise funds throughout the year for the Children’s Hospital. The Soonerthon committee will provide mentorship all year for our newly developed Moore Love officers at each of our high schools. Not only will all funds raised for Soonerthon go to Children’s Hospital, but our committees will receive fundraising and event training from their successful collegiate peers. This is a win/win. • Moore Faith Medical Clinic: This is a free clinic within the Moore community that provides much-needed medical attention to individuals who may not have insurance or financial means for healing. Medical professionals from Moore and surrounding cities volunteer at the facility once a week. Website: moorefaithclinic.org
    • Ally’s House: This organization was established in 2004 and has provided financial support to families dealing with pediatric cancer. To date, Ally’s House has processed more than 1,200 financial assistance applications. The assistance is designed to help ease a portion of the family’s financial stress during treatments and helps pay for various needs such as: prescriptions, medical expenses, transportation, housing, utilities, clothing, and food. Again this year, we will have a friendly intra-district challenge. Our three high school Moore Love committees will work directly with their Leadership classes and feeder junior high and elementary schools. At the end of February, based on most funds raised, a champion will be determined and they will receive the trophy and bragging rights! There will be a winning high school, junior high school, elementary school, and feeder school chain (four total winning categories).

Each of our high school Moore Love committees and Leadership classes will divide up into four groups and visit their feeder schools to meet directly with the junior high or elementary student councils (or student leaders selected by the Principal). The high school teams will help explain to our younger student leaders what Moore Love is, who and why we are fundraising for the selected recipients, the intra-district challenge and will provide input on possible fundraisers (for the site administration to approve).

Also, this year we will have PTA representatives from our school’s join us to collaborate on efforts and events. We believe their role will help with communication and planning.

If you have any questions, please let me know. As always, thank you for your support!
