Class Discipline:  We are establishing that our own personal choices determine the natural consequences in our lives. This includes making good choices and bad choices.  Always remember to stop and think before you act or speak. Visible and immediate consequences are given with positive Dojo points for classroom citizenship.  Negative Dojo Points reflect poor choices in the classroom.

Class Philosophy on Reading: Everyone Can Read! Find a Book that you Love and Read!

Class Favorite Study: "The United States Constitution" Our main focus is on "The Preamble" and "Notable People" in history that helped create our "Constitution." and the Three Branches of Government.  Over two hundred years later, "The Constitution" is still the written source of our Country's Freedom, Liberty and Government. We will learn songs to help us remember  some of these important moments in history.

Class Favorite Lesson:  Noah Webster wrote our first American English Dictionary and Speller. He was friends with Thomas Jefferson, George Washington, and Benjamin Franklin. The Statue of Liberty has welcomed many people to our country.  We are excited to learn more about our country.

Class Subject Areas: Reading, Language, Writing, Social Studies, Science, and Math

Class Unexpected Teachable Moment: We were early for our P.E. class one afternoon. We were waiting by the trees outside the gym.  It had rained the day before, but the ground wasn't to muddy. We decided to practice our spelling. All we needed were some twigs from the tree and the dirt. I called out our spelling words and the children wrote them in the dirt with their twigs. I walked around them to see how their spelling was coming along.  So fun for them and myself!

Class "Character Traits" Learned:  Honesty, Diligence, Trustworthiness, Gratefulness, Self Control, Patience, and Respect.

Class Reading Incentives:  Accelerated Reading Points earned.  Small prizes are given as a bonus when you reach your Personal Reading Goal.
