Crystal Dickinson Named Support Personnel of the Year
Moore, Okla. (Dec. 9, 2021) - Moore Public Schools recently selected South Lake Elementary RN Crystal Dickinson as the District Education Support Personnel of the Year. She has worked as an RN for 14 years and has been with MPS since 2019.
Dickinson said, “I'm excited to accept this honor, recognizing that I couldn't have made it through these last two school years without the guidance of the MPS nursing team, support from fellow staff members, and the support from our parents.
“Most importantly, I feel that the award highlights the need for nurses in our schools.”
Before her work with MPS, Dickinson worked in the medical field in settings like progressive care/medical-surgical, labor & delivery, infection control, and public health nursing while serving in the U.S. Army Nurse Corps at Ft. Sill in Lawton. She was there until the fall of 2011. Dickinson’s husband serves in the U.S. Air Force and they were assigned to two other duty stations before moving back to Oklahoma in the summer of 2019. During that time she took said she took time off from her active duty service to care for her growing family.
“The best part about practicing as a school nurse is building connections. I have the opportunity to grow a relationship with each of the students I care for, and many times with their parents, as well, creating an environment centered on the whole student, mind and body.
“In this third year at South Lake Elementary, I can provide continuity of care for those who need it most,” Dickinson said.
