MPS Students Honored During National Signing Day Nov. 9
MOORE, Okla. (Nov. 10, 2022) - Senior athletes from Moore, Westmoore and Southmoore High Schools were joined in celebration with their families and coaches yesterday as they signed letters of intent with local, state and out-of-state colleges and universities during National Signing Day.
According to the National Collegiate Athletic Association, a National Letter of Intent (NLI) is signed by more than 48,000 students each year. They note that nothing is official until a student signs the NLI, but that a letter is not mandatory for students to sign. They also state that the National Letter of Intent is not affiliated directly with the NCAA but was created by the Collegiate Commissioners Association to protect both the college and student from either party backing out. They continue that for many sports, especially in Division I, National Signing Day is a celebrated event.
